I have made a difficult but exciting decision to take two years out from teaching to further my studies in Ayurveda. This 2-year study will begin in October 2008 at The Ayurvedic Institute run by Dr. Vasant Lad in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It truly is an amazing place of learning!
The decision has been really difficult as I think about leaving London for this amount of time, and especially all my lovely yoga students. But two silver linings; the1st is that I have formed a company with my lovely collegues Ingrid Lewis and Kirsteen Ruffell called Amala Yoga. Beginning at the end of July, they will take over the Birthlight Yoga for Pregnancy and Baby Yoga classes that I currently teach.
Ayurveda originated in India more than 5,000 years ago and is a perfect compliment to yoga asana. Its' emphasis is on prevention and maintenance of health through right diet, thinking, lifestyle and use of herbs based on individual needs. So, the 2nd silver lining is as an Ayurvedic Consultant I will be able to provide a more specific approach to yoga asana for each person and combine this with other healing practices to maintain a healthy, happy, long and fruitful life.
I send joy towards all of you that I have met over the last 3 years of teaching. You have given me so much and have taught me so much. I look forward to seeing you when I return!
